In Part 4 of the Power to Change Friday Book Club series, Dr. Jason explores one of the hardest parts of creating lasting change: continuing to do the work when the results haven’t shown up yet.
This episode focuses on the principle of “sowing, not reaping” and the shift from obsessing over outcomes to becoming fanatically consistent with the inputs you can actually control. Jason breaks down the three laws of the harvest: you reap what you sow, you reap more than you sow, and you reap later than you sow. The challenge is learning to stay consistent during that frustrating gap between planting the seeds and finally seeing the results.
Jason shares how this mindset applies to business, leadership, health, relationships, finances, and personal growth. Instead of measuring only lagging indicators like revenue, weight, or other outcomes, he challenges listeners to focus on the leading indicators: the conversations, habits, training, preparation, and daily actions that ultimately create the harvest.
He also shares a personal example from watching his son pursue college football, where years of work behind the scenes eventually led to becoming a starter, earning Defensive Player of the Year, and being named a team captain. It’s a reminder that progress is often happening long before there’s visible proof of it.
If you’re doing the right things but wondering why you haven’t seen the payoff yet, this episode is about resisting the urge to quit, staying focused on what you can control, and trusting that consistent inputs compounded over time will create the results you’re working toward.
Your challenge this week: Decide who you’re trying to become, identify the seeds that version of you needs to plant, and get fanatically consistent about sowing them. Stop checking for the harvest before it has had time to grow.
