Do you realize the amount of influence you have on others?
YO! Happy Sunday! I’m sitting back and reflecting on the week, and I can’t stop thinking about the powerlifting meet my wife Kara and I did last Saturday. For me, it was my 6th or 7th meet, but for Kara, it was her first. She trained hard, she did the work for six months, and she ended up doing extremely well at the meet. I’m super proud of her because the whole idea of a powerlifting meet was way outside her comfort zone.
The real win here, however, wasn’t even on our radar. The powerlifting meet was live-streamed, and many of our friends and family who couldn’t be there in person were able to watch Kara online.
Many women in our lives, including our daughter Anna, our niece Anne Marie, and our good friend Jessica, saw Kara competing and were instantly drawn to the idea:
“I want to do that.”
They didn’t just think it—they said it. More importantly, they publicly announced that they’re going to follow in Kara’s footsteps and train for a powerlifting meet. That’s what it means to have real, tangible influence and impact on others.
Kara and I often joke about raising our kids, and we both know that more is caught than taught. That’s our way of reminding each other that yes, what we say matters, but what we do, how we act, and what we commit to has so much more influence than our words ever could. Words can be hollow. Actions are concrete.
Do you know how much influence and impact you have on those around you? I’m telling you now… it’s profound. I hope you realize it, even just a little.
Be intentional about being a lighthouse for others in your life. A lighthouse for your children, your spouse, your coworkers. Be the role model they need to see. Collapse time for someone younger than you. Be the North Star that can have a tremendous amount of influence and impact on their life.
People are watching you. Let your light shine.
With tons of agape love,
Jason
